She previously said she relies on six meals a day to stay slim, but now Charlize Theron’s true diet secrets have been revealed after the 34-year-old actress was spotted clutching a box of meal replacement shakes.
Dressed in a loose-fitting white shirt and skinny jeans, Theron made no attempt to hide the diet aid as she stepped out in Los Angeles yesterday.
Lean Body meal replacement shakes, from Labrada Nutrition, Contains high protein levels but low amounts of carbohydrates, to "make it easy to stay in great shape, and perform at your peak," according to the company’s website.
The shakes, which can be mixed with water to make a "delicious drink," were even awarded an American Tasting Institute Gold Medal.
While Theron does not appear to need to lose any weight, she is one of a number of celebrities who rely on meal replacement shakes when they feel like they need to shed a few pounds.
Britney Spears has also been reported to use the diet aid to lose weight.
Oscar-winning actress Theron revealed recently that despite having a seemingly perfect life, she often had "fat days" like every other woman.
She said: "Life is just as complicated for me as it is for any other woman out there, and I wake up just like every other woman sometimes and can’t fit into my jeans, and feel fat and ugly, and have bad days.’
Theron had previously revealed she used a diet method of eating six small meals a day – also known as "grazing" – to ensure she never felt hungry.
She explained: "I’m careful to eat a healthy balance of foods, but I eat six small meals a day. If I want a burger, rather than deprive myself, I’ll have a quarter of one."
But Theron can be safe in the knowledge that, whatever her size, her fans will still love her.
It was announced yesterday that the actress will be presented with the Decade of Hotness award at Spike TV’s Guys Choice next month.
Theron, who has played the traditional love interest in films including Hancock and Sweet November, as well as disguising her looks to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster, will be honored at the ceremony alongside stars including Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel and Brooklyn Decker.
