Video: Why John Mayer Took a Break From the Spotlight

Publish date:

John Mayer sat down for an interview with “Ellen”, explaining why he took a break from the media after his controversial comments in 2010 interviews.

John said the explosive interviews prompted him to take a step back and become a true adult.

The singer is referring to his Rolling Stone interview in March of 2010, where he stated, “I have masturbated myself out of serious problems in my life” and added that he was looking for “the Joshua Tree of vaginas.”

The following month, Mayer did an interview for Playboy where he talked about his ex-girlfriends, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.

Mayer said of Jessica, “That girl, for me, is a drug … Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me… Sexually it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm.”

As for Aniston, Mayer said, “I’ll always be sorry that it didn’t last. In some ways I wish I could be with her.”

The handsome singer reveals those interviews made him take a good look at himself.

Mayer has spent the past two years in Montana out of the spotlight.

But, the singer will be releasing his album “Born and Raised” on May 22. He feels it’s the best album so far, adding, “I think it’s the most honest.”
