Video: New Movie Trailer for 'Oblivion' Starring Tom Cruise

This is pretty good as far as tv spots go. It basically distills the first theatrical trailer for Oblivion, a post-apocalyptic thriller with Tom Cruise, down into 46 seconds, hitting all of the high points. This looks pretty good to me I want to “know what happened” too.

“On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.”

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (and based on his graphic novel),from a script cowritten withWilliam Monahan (The Departed), Karl Gajdusek (Last Resort), and Michael Arndt (Toy Story3, the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII), the rest of the cast includes Morgan Freeman (is there anything he doesn’t improve?), Andrea Riseborough, Olga Kurylenko, Nikolaj “Kingslayer” Coster-Waldau, Melissa Leo (also in Olympus Has Fallen) and Zoë Bell.

Oblivion opens in the US and in the UK (all theaters) and in IMAX in the US on April 12, then goes wide in the US on April 19.
