You can either watch it or you can slam your hand in your desk drawer. I’d say they amount to the same thing. In fact, just about anything is preferable to watching this advertisement for this giant boil on the butt of Americancinema.
This trailer contains not one laugh, but it does provide a lot of reasons to scowl, wince and shake your head while wondering “WHY?!” I’ve been against this movie from the start and this is one instance where I would have liked to have been wrong. There is so much talent being wasted here. Sofia Vergara, after appearing in this, The Smurfs and New Year’s Eve, seems to want a film career so badly that she’s accepting any script that comes her way. Craig Bierko, who’s got a fine career on Broadway going for him must have had a condo payment due.
As for the three leads Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso, I can imagine there’s enough comic gold in their impersonations of Larry, Moe and Curley for a good Saturday Night Live sketch, but a 90 minute feature is too much to ask. And who ever decided to update them to present day, not to mention have to save a convent/orphanage/school (Blues Brothers anyone?) AND put Kate Upton in a combination habit/monokini should not only be fired but blackballed.
Okay, I’m through ranting. Watch this at your own peril. I’ve done all I can. If you still care, The Three Stooges will be released April 13 in the US (that’s Friday the 13th), 15th June in the UK and July 25 in France. Maybe it will do well there. They revere Jerry Lewis. Do they like The Stooges?
