Video: New Movie Trailer for 'Oz the Great and Powerful'

If nothing else, Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerfulwill be visually stunning. I don’t think hallucinogens will be needed to enjoy it and might be dangerous. (I wonder classic psychedelic album it will sync up with? ( Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” pairs with 1939’s The Wizard of Oz. If you’ve never experienced that, you need to. It’s wild!) Some are comparing the visuals here to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Hopefully the execution will be better.

In any case, today we have more stunning new images to share, as well as the latest tv spot (courtesy of the film’s FB). A lot of the images we’ve seen from this movie almost look like artist’s renderings, but they are stills from the film. Flying monkeys have never been as cute as Finley (voiced by Zach Braff). I was under the misguided notion that the doll we’ve seen is Michelle Williams under a spell, but apparently that’s China Doll (voiced by Joey King).

“When Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot – fame and fortune are his for the taking – that is until he meets three witches, Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity – and even a bit of wizardry – Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.”

Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful with James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Abigail Spencer, Ted Raimi and Bill Cobbs, will open on March 8 in the US and the UK. You can keep up with the film via FB, Twitter and the official site.
