Video: Movie Trailer for 'The Deep Blue Sea' Starring Rachel Weisz

The Deep Blue Sea, written and directed by Terence Davies (The House of Mirth), was the closing night film of the BFI London Film Festival back in October and got a full UK release in November. We haven’t mentioned it since then as I’ve been waiting for word on US dates. Well, we finally one. I’m so excited to finally get to be able to see this.  The Deep Blue Sea stars Rachel Weisz, Tom Hiddleston (Midnight in Paris, The Avengers, War Horse) and Simon Russell Beale.

Hester Collyer (Weisz) leads a privileged life in 1950s London as the beautiful wife of high court judge Sir William Collyer (Beale). To the shock of those around her, she walks out on her marriage to move in with young ex-RAF pilot, Freddie Page (Hiddleston), with whom she has fallen passionately in love.

Set in post-war Britain, this adaptation of Terence Rattigan’s classic play, The Deep Blue Sea is a study of forbidden love, suppressed desire, and the fear of loneliness – but is at heart a deeply moving love story. Stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea, what – or whom – should Hester choose?

I’m a huge fan of Mrs. Daniel Craig. Whenever she’s in something, I go and I’m developing an appreciation for Tom Hiddleston as well. I cannot wait to see these two quintessentially British thespians in what appears to be a quintessential British love story full of repression, passion, drama and disaster that reminds me of The End of the Affair (with Ralph Fiennes and Julianne Moore). Watch this new domestic trailer and see if you don't agree.

The Deep Blue Sea finally gets a limited US release on March 23. (At least we know it'll be available on VOD shortly thereafter if it doesn't go wide.)
