I thought it was ‘Love your Camel’ Day, but apparently it’s ‘Blood Suckers on Parade’ Day. After the first look at the Family Cullen, we now have a new look at Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which features a completely different and definitely more bloody and visceral take on the vamp mythos.
Feast your eyes on this new clip from Timur Bekmambetov’s latest foray behind the camera in which Benjamin Walker, as Honest Abe himself, along with Anthony Mackie as Will Johnson, take out a particularly nasty looking vamp while on top of a speeding “locomotive”. (I was struck by the appropriate use of the word, as opposed to train). Gotta love the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon meets Zack Snyder-esque axe twirl.
“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold story that shaped our nation. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted) bring a fresh and visceral voice to the bloodthirsty lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history’s greatest hunter of the undead.”
Along with Walker and Mackie the terrific cast includes Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Rufus Sewell, Alan Tudyk , Erin Wasson, Marton Csokas, Jimmi Simpson and Joseph Mawle with a script by Seth Grahame-Smith, from his own original novel.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter starts splitting heads and spiking hearts next Wednesday, 20th June in the UK and June 22 in the US.
