The event drew around 5,000 fans to Los Angeles, where the singer performed and showed off her personal film.
Katy was shocked by the turn-out, stating, “I never thought I’d shut down Hollywood Boulevard. I told them I wanted to do something special. I hope this is special enough”.
Perry performed her hit songs including “Firework”, “Teenage Dream”, and “I Kissed a Girl” for the crowd and later walked the red-carpet in a red velvet Dolce and Gabbana dress.
Katy said of the huge event, “I have had a little bit of a tummy turn today. It’s overwhelming. I shut down Hollywood Boulevard today. Five years ago I was asking to borrow money from my little brother."
Perry’s movie documents her life behind-the-scenes and even touches on her divorce from Russell Brand.
The British comedian reportedly asked to be cut form the film but Katy felt it was an important part of the movie.
The singer said of her low points filmed in the flick, “You wouldn’t be able to recognize me on the street, I look that bad. It wasn’t necessarily glamorous. But it’s nice to break down the wall of perfection”.
Katy Perry’s movie hits theaters worldwide on July 5, 2012.
