Video: J.R. Martinez Gets Longest Standing Ovation Ever on 'Dancing with the Stars'

Last night on 'Dancing with the Stars,' Iraq war veteran J.R. Martinez received a standing ovation that lasted longer than any other performer in the history of the show (video below). He and his partner Karina Smirnoff danced to Tim McGraw's 'If You're Reading This,' which told the story of wives reading letters notifying them that their loved ones died in combat.

Martinez also revealed that his most memorable year was when he was seriously wounded. After serving two months as an United States Army infantryman in Iraq, he was badly injured when his Humvee hit a landmine. He slipped into a coma and had intense burns on over 40 percent of his body, lost most of the hair on his head and one of his ears. He spent over two years in the hospital recovering and had 33 surgeries to repair the damage to his skin.

Adding to the emotion of the night was Martinez' guest, teen Jenna Bullen, sitting in the audience. She had suffered burns to more than 95 per cent of her body due to a hot water heater accident when she was three.

Martinez earned 26 points for the dance and brought the audience to tears, including judge Carrie Ann Inaba: "Heroes are normal people who do extraordinary things. Tonight you did something extraordinary."

Chynna Phillips also scored 26 points, dancing to her band Wilson Phillips' smash hit, 'Hold On,' to mark the year she battled depression and substance abuse. Her old bandmates Carnie Wilson and Wendy Phillips watched from the audience.

While Martinez and Phillips saw the season’s first nine scores of the season, Ricki Lake and partner Derek Hough pulled off a great set as well.

In a rumba, Lake attempted to convey the memories of 2010, the year her rented home was burned to the ground, but she met the love of her life. Though Carrie Ann Inaba didn't see the link when she said: "Ricki Lake, you are on fire."
