Video: Jon Stewart Praises Gerard Butler's Good Looks

Good morning my fellow  ”Juice”-aholics! (To those of you who don’t share our addiction, never fear, this will soon be over and The Butler will go back underground until it’s time to promote Playing for Keeps. Therefore, I’m savoring every drop while we have it.)

Yesterday’s stops on the traveling carnival that is Gerard Butler’s life included “Live with Kelly and Michael” (please don’t make me watch that show again, G).  The press is now all aflutter because Butler “cursed” on live tv. Considering the word he dropped (“sh*t “ in the course of telling an anecdote), and considering the source it could have been a lot worse, so be grateful and move on. We have some pics of his appearance below.

The day was capped (at least to my knowledge, I’m sure the carnival rides didn’t stop until the sun rose over the Hudson), by G’s appearance on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”.  I don’t know if I mentioned it but I was a wee bit excited about this one.  Jon Stewart + Gerard Butler = a sammich with brains!

Two things: One, I LOVE that he misses his hair…because I know I sure as hell do.

Jon Stewart: “when you look in the mirror …you ever say to yourself, ‘I’d hit that’.”

Butler: “I do! Frequently!”

Watching this last night I actually yelled at my tv, “I knew it!” (Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean at all, it was the qualifier “frequently” that had me rolling. I imagine if this guy isn’t doing it, he’s thinking about it – whether he’s with someone or alone. I don’t know how he gets anything done.)

We also have a clip of G and his Chasing Mavericks costar Jonny Weston talking to Terri Seymour for Extra – he and Seymour always have fun, but the highlight here is more footage of G as a leprechaun:

A really good interview appeared in today’s USA Today as well. A short addendum appeared online last night in which Butler discussed what a lot of people have wondered about: how does he stay sober out at clubs or parties ALL the time?

"If you drank like I did (in the past) you'd go 'No, probably best not to,' Butler tells USA TODAY, adding that he hasn't had a drink in 15 years. "Once you've been introduced to the art of social drinking you appreciate, 'Well, this is relaxing.' It gets you in the mood. But when you haven't had a drink for a long time, you forget you ever had that. I was (also) a big smoker. I haven't smoked in a long time."

One caveat, “a long time” is relative. He may not have had a drink in 15 years, but it’s only been one for cigarettes.  I don’t fault him. I’m a non-practicing smoker myself. (You’re either a smoker or you’re not. Some of us just don’t practice.)

Chasing Mavericks which stars Gerard Butler as Rick “Frosty” Hesson, Jonny Weston as Jay Moriarty, Leven Rambin as Kim, Abigail Spencer as Brenda Hesson and Elisabeth Shue as Christy Moriarty as well as Scott Eastwood and some of the best surfers alive, including Peter MelZach Wormhoudt and Greg Long, opens in the US in TWO DAYS on October 26 and on 2nd November in the UK.
