It's November 12, 2012 and on tonight's episode of Dancing With The Stars' All-Stars edition (Season 15), we will be seeing our couples pay homage to Veterans' Day with a night of meaningful performances. The audience will be joined by members of several branches of the Armed Forces.
Tuesday November 13, 2012 performances include Kylie Minogue (who will sing Locomotive) and Ne-Yo who will perform "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)". As well the Macy's dance performance will see the Tony award-winning cast of Disney's Broadway Musical "Newsies".
Because of the election there was no elimination last week, so you know what this means, right? Yup. It's DOUBLE-ELIMINATION night on Tuesday. Last week's scores and votes will be added to this week's.
Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani – Quick Step – She's a powerhouse so you know it will be an exceptional quick step. Their dance was tight, energetic and PERFECT. Len is actually smiling. They may get a 10 from Len tonight. Both Carrie Ann and Bruno loved them too!
Scores: 10/10/10 = 30/30
Trio – Paso Doble - Melissa is a dominatrix in this particular dance so I eagerly await it. These costumes sure are red hot. She really is an exceptional dancer. Her lines, her moves are perfection. She impresses Len the most out of all the celebrities! That's HUGE coming from Len. Bruno also was very impressed with this dance. Carrie Ann says she 'owned' that Paso and she really did.
Scores: 10/10/10 = 30/30
Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough – Viennese Waltz (Arms of the Angels) What a beautiful and appropriate song for tonight's salute to the service men and women that keep us all free. Their dancing was so lovely and moving. The dress certainly made Shawn look like an Angel.
Scores: 10/9.5/10 = 29.5/30
Trio Dance – Samba – Based on how they all came out on tricycles and the rehearsal footage this dance is going to be epic!! OMG that was out of this freaking world!!!!! LOVED it. Len was not pleased with it because of very little Samba content and called mark and Derek self-indulgent for that type of dance. Bruno agrees it wasn't really a Samba. Carrie Ann disagreed with them.
Scores: 10/7/9 = 26/30
Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff – Tango – He did his zip-lining entrance perfectly (thanks gawd). You've got to admit, Apolo is RIPPED. It's like he's gotten very manly. Very manly. Their dance is tight and in sync and the music is perfect for it (Bonnie Tyler's 'Holding Out For A Hero'). Bruno and Carrie Ann were both really excited about this performance. Len was as excited as he can be on a given night.
Scores: 10/9.5/10 = 29.5
Trio Dance – Jive - If you think about it, that was very gutsy of Apolo to want another man (a professional) because he's going to be compared against him in a big way. But he's up for the challenge because he's a consummate professional. that was great and energetic and Apolo held his own. Bruno pointed out the risk of choosing a male as his third for this dance, but that he did fabulous.
Scores: 9.5/9.5/10 = 29/30
Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Viennese Waltz – Kirstie has come a long way and as Maks says in the rehearsal piece, she's definitely the most-improved. This song (Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah) gets my heart each and every time and ask Kirstie said tonight's show is all about dancing for the troupes so it has that reverence. Their outfits were very appropriate for the dance. Len said it was her best dance and that's saying something if it's coming from him. These dances are really short in duration!
Scores: 9/9/9 = 27/30
Trio – Paso Doble - It's nice to have Tristan back. The rehearsal footage is hysterical. Love they are doing it to Evanescence's 'Wake Me Up'. it was okay but I kept thinking Kirstie's outfit looked like a night gown from Scrooge. I agree with Carrie Ann in that it was a bit sloppy.
Scores: 8/8/8 = 24/30
Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy – Viennese Waltz – I can't wait to see these two dance this one tonight. With all that chemistry it's going to be beautiful. Her outfit is gorgeous when she twirls about. If someone tuned into the show watching these two, I don't think they would necessarily think Kelly isn't a pro! She's that good. There movements are perfection. Len is not happy and Carrie Ann told him it was lyrical (which it was). Bruno called her a 'Twinkling Twirler'. It really was a beautiful dance.
Scores: 9.5/9/9.5 = 28/30
Trio – Jive - My goodness Kelly has a gorgeous body and it was really great the guys took their shirts off. This was a really enjoyable Jive and she made Len's lifetime by giving him a kiss at the end as she slid across the table.
Scores: 9.5/9.5/9.5 = 28.5/30
Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd – Quick Step – Gilles is in it to win it and gives it all he's got no matter what and pushes the boundaries each and every week. It's a respectful night so I'm not going to complain that he's dressed in a baggy outfit. There is something off about this dance for me tonight and I don't know what it is. Don't get me wrong he works incredibly hard and is a delight to watch. They danced to the theme from Top Gun. Carrie Ann thinks there were some small flaws as well. Len loved it. It was VERY fast.
Scores: 9.5/10/10 = 29.5/30
Trio – Salsa - This is every heterosexual man's dream with these two sexy ladies. It's going to be sex on stilettos. From the vibrant color of the costumes, to the choreography and moves, this is probably the best dance of the night. It doesn't hurt that Gilles is shaking his hips a lot.
Scores: 9.5/10/9.5 = 29/30
Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke – Viennese Waltz – He looks great in a tux. I don't think we've ever seen him in one. Their waltz is graceful, tasteful and simply lovely. I always love when they cut to his wife in the audience. She's stunningly beautiful. Carrie Ann is expecting more from him at this point in the competition and I don't disagree with her. If you think of others like Gilles and Kelly for example, they are really going all out. Having said that I still love watching him dance. He's got great energy.
Scores: 9/9.5/9.5 = 28/30
Trio – Salsa - This too, will be hot because these women (Cheryl and Kym Johnson) are very hot when they dance. Love the ladies' costumes. So vibrant. I don't know if it's me, but the beginning seemed a bit chaotic. Despite that, it was great to watch. Carrie likes watching Emmitt dance.
Scores: 10/10/10 = 30/30
Which two celebrities do you think will be going home tomorrow night? At this point it is getting VERY tough, isn't it? They are all so good.
