Tom Hardy May Star in 'Child 44'

And it’s not even my birthday! Lots of news for my favorites today, including Tom Hardy. Variety is reporting that Hardy is in talks to topline Child 44, based on the novel by Tom Rob Smith in which a “disgraced lawyer {insert joke about redundancy here} who is dispatched to investigate a series of child murders”.  The book is set in the Soviet Union during Stalin’s rule, so presumably the flick will be too.

Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money, Safe House)  is already on board to direct with Sir Ridley Scott producing. Richard Price (Kiss of Death, clockers, Ransom) is writing the script.

Of course, first up for Hardy will be Animal Rescuewith Noomi Rapace based on a short story by Dennis Lehane which starts filming in March. The story (as with most of Lehane’s work) is set in Boston. If they film it here, you will probably see me on the news:”Tom Hardy Stalked in Beantown”. (Have no fear, imdb lists filming location as NYC.  Oh wait….ROAD TRIP!!!)
