TBS Pulls the Plug on 'Lopez Tonight' After Two Seasons

TBS announced its decision, today, to cancel Lopez Tonight after only two seasons. In a statement, the cable network said: "We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air."

The late night talker dropped 40% in viewers during its second season and, more recently, averaged only 546,000 eyeballs nightly.

One contributing factor may have been when it was pushed back to a later time slot to accommodate Conan O'Brien's new talk show, which has averaged 1 million viewers in the 11 P.M. slot since 2010.

Soon after the axe fell, celebrities sounded off their condolences on Twitter. Angie Harmon tweeted, "I'm BUMMED!! I was looking forward to doing your show on Monday!!" Holly Robinson Peete tweeted "NOOOOOO BOOOOO!" and comedienne Roseanne Barr offered consolation via her tweet, "so sorry to hear of your cancellation--you are great!"

Lopez Tonight will air its last show this Thursday night.
