Actress-turned-singer Taylor Momsen caused an uproar in Glasgow last week when she told her screaming fans they lived in England.
Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless were playing a sold out show at The Barrowlands in Glasgow (Scotland) when she boomed to the crowd: “Glasgow you are looking good tonight. We are The Pretty Reckless and we have heard Glasgow is the craziest crowd in all of England.”
Unfortunately for Momsen this comment didn’t go unnoticed, causing quite a stir with audience members who took offence and booed at her slip-up.
Scottish student Paul Krane spoke to Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper, saying, “The noise from the crowd was deafening. People began to cheer as they presumed she was going to say Scotland, but when the penny dropped (when they realised) all you could hear was boos.”
Uncharacteristically, the songstress, who is widely known for her aloof “too cool for school” behaviour, took to Twitter to apologise for her blunder.
“Glasgow, I love you, I now Have to tour Scotland (haha, sorry about the slip up!).”
Meanwhile, Monsen has been left stranded in Germany due to the big freeze in Europe.
“Still in Germany… maybe it’s time for a proper vacation, we’re thinking of renting a car and going to Amsterdam, oh, yup… So either drive to Amsterdam, fly to Miami, fly to Dublin or stay in Germany… hmmm…” she wrote on Twitter.
Perhaps someone should get Momsen a map or some geography lessons before she embarks on the rest of her Light Me Up tour.
