A copy of The Beatles' “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album was sold on Saturday for $290,500 by Heritage Auctions in Dallas, TX. The album was autographed by all four band members and was originally listed at $30,000.
A letter of authenticity posted on the Heritage Auction’s Website stated that the autographs of the band members were obtained the same year the record was issue—1967.
Perry Cox, a Beatles expert, said the signed album was “extraordinarily special.”
“I consider this to be on of the top two items of Beatles memorabilia I’ve ever seen, the other being a signed copy of ‘Meet the Beatles,” he said.
The bidder for the item was not identified, but the Associated Press reported it had been sold to someone in the Midwest.
