It has been a little while since Sarah Michelle Gellar made headlines for a successful show, but the former “Buffy” star has once again found her way back into the spotlight.
Gellar is set to co-headline a new CBS workplace comedy titled Crazy Ones, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The comedy is set in the world of advertising and revolves around the dynamics between father Simon Roberts, played by Robin Williams, and his daughter. Gellar will play Simon’s daughter, Sydney Roberts. In the show, she is the creative director and backbone of Roberts and Roberts Advertising Agency. Described as intense, driven, organized and practical, Roberts wants to be her father but is too busy having to parent him.
Jason Winer (Modern Family) will direct the show’s pilot, while David E. Kelley (Boston Legal) is set to write it. Executive producers include Dean Lorey, Bill D’Elia, John Montgomery and Mark Teitelbaum.
Crazy Ones is Gellar’s second shot at a series-regular role in a half-hour comedy. Her previous role in the drama thiller Ringer was axed not too long ago, and a pilot she was in for an HBO comedy shot in 2009 failed to go to series.
Gellar was recently in the process of developing a family comedy, but the project failed to move forward.
Maybe this will be the comedy that works out for her.
