Ryan Phillippe is tired of the bright lights of Hollywood and the negative side of celebrity. So much so, he is thinking of retiring.
Speaking with the New York Post after the premiere of his new movie, The Bang Bang Club, on Friday night, Phillippe said he was thinking of calling it quits.
He said: “It’s so hard to go out in LA. I’m going to move. I’m going to spend a third of my year in New York.”
He continued: “I think I’m going to end my acting career. I’m so introverted. I’m ready to be behind the scenes. I’m 36, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years.”
Phillippe does often find himself as tabloid fodder. Largely due to both his marriage to ex Reese Witherspoon, and his love life. He assured the Post: “I’m a good guy,” he said. “I’m not that guy you read about.”
Update: A rep for Phillippe has trashed the Post‘s report, and says the actor’s comments were taken out of context. While he is interested in doing more work behind the camera (producing, directing), he has no intention of retiring, according to Gossip Cop.
