After 8 years of marriage, “Blurred Lines” singer Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton have decided to separate.
"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," they said in a joint statement to People magazine.
Ever since Thicke released his video for “Blurred Lines” rumors of the couple’s relationship have suggested a split. After the singer’s performance with Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMA awards and allegations that Thicke groped a female member of his entourage, it seemed the couple’s bond was especially shaky.
However, the couple had made several appearances at other events to end such rumors.
“I don’t know if I would still be alive in some ways if it wasn’t for Paula,” Thicke said in September. “She’s been my rock, my muse, my inspiration and I love her. The whole way.”
The couple has not explained their split, which leaves the cause open to speculation. Some suggest that celebrity couples like Patton and Thicke often split because of scheduling conflicts. Other more outlandish rumors have thrown Cyrus' name into the mix -- without any actual evidence.
Thicke has since postponed his scheduled concert appearance at a casino in North Carolina "due to unforeseen circumstances".
