Rihanna is reportedly suing the British clothing store Topshop for $5 million for using her image without her consent.
However, in the U.K. companies can buy and use photos for products without paying the celebrity a fee as long as they compensate the photographer for the image.
According to the New York Post, Rihanna knows about the law, but filed the suit anyway because reportedly Topshop told her, “go to hell, we don’t care; we are going to continue selling you.”
Rihanna reportedly "wants to make a statement” about Topshop “taking advantage of artists.”
“It is just exploitation,” the source told the Post.
