Rapper T.I. helped police talk a man from jumping off a ledge of a 22-story high-rise in Atlanta today.
T.I. was headed to shoot a music video when he heard about a man considering jumping. T.I. said, “Something in me just said, ‘Man, you gotta try and help. You gotta do whatever you can.’”
Police taped a video message from T.I. and got it to the potential jumper, who agreed to come down. The man talked with the rapper for a few minutes before he was taken to a hospital.
“I told him it ain’t that bad. It’ll get better, to put the time and effort into making it better,” T.I. said. “I just reminded him that I know. It looks bad right now, but it can turn around.”
A police offer said the rapper “didn’t have to stop. He could’ve kept on going about his business,” adding, “We’re happy it ended the way it did, and we thank him.”
In the video message to the suicidal man, T.I. told him, “Nothing is that bad. Nothing in life is worth taking your life. I’m here to help you. Please come down to talk to me.”
That’s awesome of T.I., don’t you guys agree?
