Madonna’s latest tune "Living For Love" was released on Dec. 20, 2014, however, it has not been played on the UK's Radio 1 network except for one time by a DJ who is allowed to not follow the playlist after 7 p.m.
Madonna, who is 56 years old, has reportedly been informally banned from Radio 1 because of her age and lack of relevance to young listeners.
"Living For Love" is the first single from her new album "Rebel Heart."
"At the end of the day it’s all about relevance," a Radio 1 insider recently told the Daily Mail. "It’s natural that as an artist gets older their audience goes elsewhere and Radio 1 has to reflect that."
"The station has a duty to meet the needs of younger listeners," added the unidentified insider. "I don’t think the audience is losing sleep that it is not playing Madonna in the same way that it used to."
Madonna, who has 13 number one songs in the UK, is played on Radio 2, which has an audience of over 35 years old.
However, Paul McCartney's new single is being played on Radio 1 despite that fact he is 72 years old because his tune includes Rihanna and Kanye West, noted UK.Celebrity.Yahoo.
"Tracks are chosen on musical merit, and while around 40 per cent of the country’s 15 to 29-year-olds tune into Radio 1 each week, an artist’s age is never a factor," insisted a Radio 1 spokesman.
