Celebrity chef Paula Deen's new book New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up shot to the top of Amazon's best-seller list this week, even though its scheduled release wasn't until October.
The skyrocketing pre-order book sales are apparently in response to Deen's use of the "n-word' in a deposition in a sexual and racial discrimination lawsuit filled by a former employee, notes Mediaite.com.
Her 2011 cookbook, "Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible," has risen to the second spot.
However, today, Ballantine Books announced it has dropped Deen and will not publish the new book, notes CBS News.
Numerous companies have severed ties with Deen because of the racial controversy, including Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Food Network, QVC, Sears, Caesars Entertainment and JCPenney.
In response, many of those companies have been attacked by hundreds of angry Deen fans on their Facebook pages, reports CNN.
No word on whether another publisher will pick up the new book or if Deen could self-publish it.
