We’ve gotten excited about Michael Fassbender casting news before. Remember when Fassy was set to play Tom Hardy’s role in Lawless? How about a vampire for Jim Jarmusch? (He’s been replaced by Tom Hiddleston in Only Lovers Left Alive, currently filming.) In any case, this is one I really hope comes to pass.
Fassbender is in talks to star in Jane Got a Gun with Natalie Portman (I know!) for director Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin).
Vulture first broke the news about the negotiations. The script, by Brian Duffield, was on the Black List* last year. “Portman, who is also producing, would play a woman married to an outlaw who returns home bullet-riddled and half-dead, betrayed by criminal confederates hot on his heels. Fassbender would play the ex-lover Portman seeks out to help her defend her farm from the imminent onslaught of black hats.”
“Ex” and future lover me thinks?
Fassbender is currently in London for Sir Ridley Scott’s The Counselor (although that production is on hold at the moment due to the death of Tony Scott, it’s expected to resume shortly). He’s also got X:Men –Days of Future Past set as well as four other titles, so I’m not sure where this will fit in. If all goes well, the plan is to for Jane Got a Gun to film by early next year.
In the meantime, enjoy these pics of Fassy tooling around London today, August 29, on his bike with girlfriend, actress Nicole Beharie, in tow.
