Well this is exciting news for those of us who celebrate the art of puerile humour as the highest of all art forms. The South Park creators, flush with the success of their Book Of Mormon musical, have started their own production studio. Important Studios, as its to be called, is expected to be formerly launched on Monday (January 21) but according to the New York Times it has an estimated value of $300 million. GOBBLES!!!
All Matt and Trey have said so far is: “Having worked with several different studios over the years, we came to realize that our favorite people in the world are ourselves.”
Which is as good a reason as any to put millions and millions of dollars into a production company.
Their first project is expected to be a film version of Book Of Mormon, which has already earned them $200 million (increasing by the day). We imagine they’ve had to assure investors they won’t just piss it all away on a sequel to Orgazmo.
And that there won’t be any “black and white hippy movies. They're always about gay cowboys eating pudding.”
