Martin Short Skips Emmys After Losing Wife

Actor and comedian Martin Short was absent from the Emmy awards last night, where he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama. Friends say Short is having a rough time adjusting after losing his wife last week.

Martin Short skipped the Emmy Awards last night after losing his wife, Nancy Dolman, last week.

“It’s a terrible tragedy,” Short’s costar Glenn Close told at the Emmys. “It’s going to take a long time for him to readjust to being without her.”

Martin, 60, met Dolman in 1972 during the production of the musical “Godspell”.  The couple married in 1980 and have three children: Katherine, 26; Oliver, 24; and Henry, 21.

Nancy Dolman, who had been battling cancer, died of natural causes at the age of 58 on August 21. A report claims that a faulty oxygen tank may have contributed to Dolman’s death.

“They were great friends, great partners,” Close, 63, said of Short and Dolman’s relationship. “They had a wonderful marriage.”

Glenn Close says of Martin Short, “He’s just such a wonderful, wonderful man.”
