Little People of America Protest 'Snow White and the Huntsman' for not Casting Real Dwarfs

Publish date:

This past weekend, 'Snow White and the Huntsman' brought in big box office, $56.3 million, but the film has the organization 'Little People of America' hopping mad.

Producers of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' did not use real dwarfs in the live-action remake of the Disney animated classic. They cast average size people to play the famous dwarfs and then shrunk them down digitally (video below).

A Little People of America rep told that the film should have cast real dwarfs: "This means both casting people with dwarfism as characters that were specifically written to be played by little people ... and other roles that would be open to people of short stature."

Little People of America was created in 1957, when actor Billy Barty made a public appeal for all little people in America to join him for a meeting in Reno, Nevada.

Little People of America is a non-profit organization, which provides support to dwarfs and their families.
