Leonardo DiCaprio, wearing an 80’s style-big shouldered, double-breasted suit, was spotted in Manhattan today, August 25, filming scenes for Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street.
In The Wolf of Wall Street DiCaprio plays Jordan Belfort, a Long Island penny stockbroker who served 20 months in prison for refusing to cooperate in a massive 1990s securities fraud case that involved widespread corruption on Wall Street and in the corporate banking world, including mob infiltration.
Joining Leo on set were his director (The film marks Leo’s fifth film with Scorsese after The Aviator, Gangs of New York, The Departed and Shutter Island. Leo’s also a producer on the film with his Appian Way production company) and costar Cristin Milioti.
The Wolf of Wall Street also stars Jonah Hill (in a role that both Chris Evans and Joseph Gordon-Levitt pursued), Matthew McConaughey (who had better film his scenes tout de suite before he fades away completely), Jon Favreau, Kyle Chandler, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Jake Hoffman (son of Dustin), Jon Bernthal, P.J. Byrne, J.C. Mackenzie, Margot Robbie (in a role that Blake Lively, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Teresa Palmer and Amber Heard were all considered for. It’s probably easy to figure out why Lively didn’t get it), Ethan Suplee and Katrina Cas. We don’t have an exact release date yet but if I had to put money on it, I’d say somewhere around November 2013.
