TLC today announced today that it has “decided not to renew another season of Kate Plus 8." But this may not be the end of the Gosselins, TLC said it will “check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future.” By the end of this season, Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark (including Jon & Kate Plus 8).
Kate Gosselin tweeted the cancellation news to her 30,000 followers today: “TLC cancelled it. I'm sorry. We've had a great run! Six years of whirlwind fun-filled adventures.” She added, “I poured my entire self into the last six years of Kate + 8 and I can't wait to have the chance to challenge myself again with future endeavors!”
Just a week ago, Kate went on the Today Show and said that she was unaware of any plans to end the reality show: "Nobody has told me. We're happy to continue on and will do so as long as people are watching."
The reality mom of eight formerly starred in Jon And Kate Plus Eight, before the couple split up and TLC changed the show to focus on Kate's globetrotting search for a new husband while the kids drove the babysitter crazy.
Kate says she hopes to do more “motivational speaking, book writing” any other “fun” work opportunities. She wished all the family's fans well and said: "...remember, this is not 'goodbye.' I prefer to say 'See you around!' "
