After more than two months of secrecy, Kanye West finally revealed the first photo of his daugther, North West, on Kris Jenner’s talk show, “Kris.”
West, 35, explained what lead to the decision to release the photo of his and Kim Kardashian’s 3-month-old child on Jenner’s show.
"It's all this talk about baby pictures and, 'Can you get paid for the baby picture?' 'Do you want to put it on a magazine?'" West said. "To stop all the noise, I thought it would be really cool on her grandmother's season finale to bring a picture of North."
Kanye said after meeting little North, he immediately went into father mode.
"The thing I think about as a dad is just protection," he said. "My only goal is to protect my daughter. That’s my instinct."
But while some things about fatherhood have come easily, other aspects of parenting have proven more of a challenge for the rapper,
“I’m supposed to be this musical genius, but I can’t work the car seat that well,” he joked.
West admitted being a father and part of a family has changed his life for the better.
"After I lost my mother [in 2008], there were times I felt like, I would put my life at risk. I felt like sometimes I didn't have something to live for," West said. "Now I have two really special people to live for, a whole family to live for. A whole world to live for."
During the interview, West also expressed his love and devotion to girlfriend Kardashian, 32.
"I can have people saying [my relationship with Kim] is going to damage your credibility as an artist or a designer, and I say, 'I don't care, I love this woman,'" West said "She's my joy, and she brought my new joy into the world. There's no paparazzi and there's no blog comments that's going to take that joy from me."
