Jon Gosselin 'Relieved" that 'Kate Plus 8' is Canceled

Jon Gosselin recently told how he is "very relieved" that Kate Plus 8 has been canceled by TLC and that his kids will finally be away from the TV cameras: "I hope they can have more private family moments."

He also implied that his eight kids may need therapy because of the reality show, "I hope that this will bring more privacy to my children and that they can get the proper attention they need for any personal issues they might have in the future."

Jon has wanted to get his kids off television for some time and has even gone to court to try to end the show. As far as his ex-wife Kate, Jon added,  "I have no clue what her next move is. I hope she dedicates more time to the kids. I wish her the best as she goes forward."

Jon and Kate Plus 8 premiered in April 2007 and became a hit show, but the marriage began to unravel in 2009 with accusations of Jon’s infidelity and Kate’s onscreen barbs against her husband. They had a very public break with dueling appearances on TV talk shows.

The couple currently shares custody of their eight kids. Kate is single, but says she is ready to start dating again. Jon has a new girlfriend, works a 9-to-5 job and lives in an apartment not far from his ex-wife's huge house.

Jon admitted that he learned of the cancellation via a "press release," but wasn't surprised. "Contracts have to end at some point. I think everything had run its course and it was time to come to an end anyways."

Kate alerted fans of the cancelation by Twitter one week after stating on the Today Show that she did not think that Kate Plus 8 would be canceled.
