Johnny Depp is known for loving his Pirates of the Caribbean role. But he apparently loved being Captain Jack Sparrow so much, that he has started carrying around his costume from it everywhere he goes.
During an interview with E! Online on Monday, Depp said he brings the costume with him everywhere so he can surprise kids.
"Sometimes you go to kiddie hospitals and things like that. I'll just sneak in and go and surprise a bunch of kiddies through the different wards. It basically turns into a two, three-hour improvisation and it's really fun. So I travel with Captain Jack," he said.
He has made several unscheduled appearances at hospitals to visit sick children, and also has appeared at school assemblies as Jack.
During filming of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, a student invited Depp to visit Meridian Primary School in Greenwich.
"It was the most exciting school day ever. I had the idea to write the letter last week after me and a friend went to see the film set. Pat from the school office delivered it. Yesterday the school called us in for a special assembly at the end of the day," one teacher said after his appearance.
Depp recently filmed The Lone Ranger, which is set to be released in theaters on July 3.
