I love revisionist history, especially when it comes to Hollywood romances. Celebrities are so good at creating their own parallel universe where cheating is considered a “research period” and a two-year marriage is considered a success. Take, for example, the recent love story between Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. Their People Magazine profile on their Italian wedding ceremony was beautiful. But the article did seem to gloss details concerning the amount of times they broke up. No mention of his hookups, such as his brief fling with Olivia Munn. Nothing about her desperation for him to marry her? No, all it said was she wore a pink dress and he serenaded her as she walked down the aisle.
Last night at the Hitchcock premiere Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johannsen ran into each other. Scarlett and Justin have some history together, specifically in the period during 2011 when Timberlake had dumped Biel. (That was, if you can remember, when she was trying to make him jealous by pretending to date Gerard Butler during a film shoot). So imagine how awkward it would be having to stand on a red carpet together and get photographed.
“How was your honeymoon?!” Johansson wanted to know, according to US Weekly magazine. Newlywed Biel, 30, recently returned from a safari getaway in Tanzania with husband Justin Timberlake, 31. “It was like magic,” Biel replied. “It was like heaven. It was the most beautiful thing.”
Yes, it was an absolute dream. I prayed the entire time that he wouldn’t suddenly call his attorney and try to figure out how to get an annulment. I spent each night waiting for him to fall asleep so I could scroll through his text messages, only to learn he kept changing the password on his phone. Absolutely magical the way I begged his assistant to make sure Cameron Diaz would not call or email him. Like heaven dreaming my girlfriend was there with us. Yes, I was so sorry to see it end.
