'Jeopardy' Champion Tweets Offensive 'Wheelchair' Joke

"Jeopardy" champion Ken Jennings recently set Twitter on fire with a tweet that was apparently a poor joke.

Jennings (video below) tweeted earlier today:

Nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair.

According to Salon.com, people responded on Twitter with shock and outrage:

@KenJennings I just...how can you even think this is ok to say? I can't even express how many levels this can be hurtful on. Goodbye.

@KenJennings Wow. There are so many awful things about that sentence I don't even know where to start. Maybe rethink this one.

@KenJennings Really? Like being in a wheelchair makes them less appealing? Please think before spouting ableist nonsense.

The Huffington Post notes that Jennings, who wants to be a TV game show host, is known for his snarky tweets, but crossed the line today.

Jennings has not yet deleted the offensive tweet, and there are no reports that his Twitter feed was hacked.
