Jan Berenstain, co-creator of the Berenstain Bears, has died at the age of 88. She had a stroke on Thursday and died on Friday.
Jan and her husband Stan created the 'Berenstain Bears,' one of the most popular children’s series of books in history.
Jan and Stan started the 'Berenstain Bears' in 'The Big Honey Hunt' in 1962 and went on to more than 260 million copies of 300 titles featuring the bear clan.
The Berenstains said their inspiration for the series was some of the difficulties that parents faced and their own childhood tribulations.
Jan Berenstain died in 2005.
