Iran Bans ‘The Simpsons’ Dolls

Iran has banned plastic figures portraying characters from the Fox sitcom 'The Simpsons,' after a religious censor said the the toys were tools of Western propaganda.

Haaretz.com reports that Mohammad Hossein Farjoo, Secretary of Policy Making at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, said this week: “We do not want to promote this cartoon by importing the toys."

Iran also bans dolls depicting adults, such as Barbie dolls. Superheroes like Superman and Spiderman are allowed because they help oppressed people.

Ironically, 'The Simpsons' caused a similar fury when it first aired in the United States, even comedian Bill Cosby denounced the show.
