Gus Hansen Ruins Rui Cao
Cao, who plays under his real name on FTP, had been off to a good start in 2011 with $424k in profit. That all changed last night when he took on Hansen at $500/$1,000 PLO.
Hansen absolutely stomped the Paris-based poker pro to the tune of $348k.
Meanwhile the Great Dane continued his extraordinary run in the high stakes games on Full Tilt this year. Hansen is up over $2 million in the Pot-Limit Omaha games alone.
That epic $3.5 million downswing Hansen recorded last year is starting to become a distant memory for the high stakes community.
Fellow Scandinavian Viktor “Isildur1” Blom was also busy last night and won $103k.
The major difference between Hansen and Blom’s sessions was that it took Blom 6,291 hands to record his victory.
Despite a number of good sessions lately, Blom is still essentially breaking even in online poker this year thanks to an early downswing.
Other big winners included Zypherin (+$50k) on PokerStars and NoPasaran (+$49k) and URnotINdanger2 (+$29k) on Full Tilt Poker.
Finally Rui Cao was the biggest loser, dropping $348k, but Shawn Buchanan (-$50k), wobbly_au (-$38k) and Josh Arieh (-$27k) also had regrettable nights.
