'Gravity' is 'Best Space Film Ever Done' Says James Cameron (Video)

The new sci-fi film "Gravity" recently opened at the Venice Film Festival to strong reviews, even talk of Academy Award nominations.

The film is directed by Alfonso Cuaron and stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock as astronauts whose space shuttle is damaged by debris, which leaves them stranded in outer space (video below).

“I was stunned, absolutely floored. I think it’s the best space photography ever done, I think it’s the best space film ever done, and it’s the movie I’ve been hungry to see for an awful long time,” Oscar-winning director James Cameron told Variety.

At one point in the thriller, Bullock becomes untethered and spins into space.

“What is interesting is the human dimension. Alfonso and Sandra working together to create an absolutely seamless portrayal of a woman fighting for her life in zero gravity,” added Cameron.

It took Cuaron four-and-a-half years to make the $100 million film, which runs 91 minutes. "Gravity" opens in the U.S. on October 4.
