Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has been found dead in his Wales home. Cable, 40, was found dead on Monday morning at his Aberdare home, police confirm.
No cause of death has been revealed, but police say there appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his passing.
His mother Mable released a statement, saying: “Stuart has travelled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly. He is now settled down and then this has happened. It has not sunk in yet.”
Cable’s brother Paul added: “The family has no further comment to make at this stage,” he said. “It is in the hands of the police.”
Stereophonics’ frontman Kelly Jones has also reacted to the news.
“I sent him a text last week to say happy birthday and he replied, ‘I never thought I’d make it to 40′,” said Jones..
“I texted him back and I said, ‘You will live to be 100, mate.’ And that’s one of the last things we said to each other, which is quite strange really. But he was just a character, wasn’t he?”
A post-mortem will be carried out later this week.
Cable was sacked from Stereophonics in 2003 after falling out with Jones. They had since settled their differences.
