Former Miss USA Rima Fakih hit headlines in 2010 after photos of her pole dancing hit the Internet. But now, Rima is in the news.
Fakih, 26, who won the Miss USA crown in 2010, is facing drunk driving charges after being arrested over the weekend in Michigan.
The former beauty queen originally denied the arrest, tweeting on Saturday: “Let’s clear things up now. … I’m NOT in Michigan and I’m NOT in jail! Wrong Fakih.”
But her post was later removed and her attorney, Doraid Elder, confirmed her arrest.
Elder said Rima is “very saddened and very apologetic for the situation that she’s in right now.”
In May 2010, Fakih became the first Miss Michigan to win the Miss USA title since 1993 and she was also the first Arab American to ever win the title.
The details of her arrest are sketchy but Fakih was said to be driving her friend?s vehicle because the companion was drunk. Rima quickly realized she was also too drunk to drive and was pulling over the the curb when she was spotted by police.
