The jury is still out on who will be cast in the leading roles for the upcoming film rendition of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Now on the radar: Michael Fassbender of “X-Men” as Christian Grey, and Ashley Greene of “Twilight” for Anastasia Steele.
Apparently, Policy Mic says Fassbender is "perfect for the steamy role,” as he's "talented and versatile enough to perform in superhero blockbusters as well as in darker and less commercial cinema." ET Online even says that “Fassbender has already played a domineering, wealthy man who falls in love with a subordinate, innocent young girl," in Jane Eyre, so Christian Grey clearly would not be a long shot.
As for Greene, playing Alice Cullen in “Twilight” shows that she can play fierce parts, but submissive ones as well. And though Fassbender admits to never having actually read the E.L. James “Fifty Shades of Grey” novels, Greene certainly has. "I've read it," she says. "I feel like I kind of had to, it's now pop culture and they're making it into a film. I'm not finished with all of them, but I'm on the third book."
The movie is due to come out in August 2014. We’ll see who makes the final cast!
