“Man of Steel” hunk Henry Cavill has been pinned up against other heartthrobs for the leading role of Christian Grey in the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie. Other strong contenders for the role currently include Ian Somerhalder of “Vampire Diaries” and Matt Bomer of “White Collar.”
But Cavill has begun to voice his opinion on the matter, and it looks like he has become quite curious about playing Christian Grey, despite his lack of research into the on-film rendition of E.L. James’ writing and his former resistance toward being cast for the movie.
"Put it this way, I've not read a script, spoken to a producer or a director ... Not exactly chaste writing is it,” Cavill said. “I've always preferred the implied sex scene anyway because having it spelled out always seems a bit tacky. Sex is so readily available to us in every form of media now, so it's no longer that exciting on screen.”
His more recent words are beginning to defy his previously-held harsh opinions.
"As an actor I don't think it should stop me from doing roles which may be great stories ... I'm very much a storyteller,” Cavill said. “I enjoy telling stories and if there is a wonderful story to tell than I don't think having played the role of Superman will necessarily stop me from telling that story. The chances are it will very much be a different vehicle than what Superman is, so it won't damage any of that character ... because they'll see two very different things on screen.”
So it seems as though this superhero is indeed gearing up to whip out some seriously stellar skills if chosen for the role. We’ll certainly be crossing our fingers...
