Two people were arrested for smashing police cars in a near-riot outside of a movie premiere in Hollywood Wednesday night.
The "Electric Daisy Carnival Experience," which documents one of the nation's largest dance raves, was being screened at the famed Grauman's Chinese Theater when some 2,000 people showed up outside.
The Los Angeles Times reports they were apparently drawn to the area by a tweet from a popular local DJ named Kaskade:
Today@6pm in Hollywood @Mann's Chinese Theatre. ME+BIG SPEAKERS+MUSIC=BLOCK PARTY!!! RT!
People showed up in droves, and the crowd started to get unruly.
"I knew it was going to get out of hand when they started taunting the police," said Adam Bloch, who works across from the theater. "They were asking for it."
People started jumping on police cars, smashing the windshields of three of them. Police fired non-lethal beanbags to disperse the crowd.
Kaskade later tried to correct his mistake, tweeting:
EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO HOME NOW! I DON'T WANT THIS TO REFLECT BADLY ON EDM OR WHAT WE ARE.
Fortunately no one was injured.
