The European premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises was held last night, Wednesday July 18, at the Odeon West End in London’s Leicester Square (in IMAX of course).
The director and most of his cast including Christian Bale (with wife Sibi Blazic), Tom Hardy (with fiancé Charlotte Riley), Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Morgan Freeman all made the hop across the pond. Gary Oldman is still in the US making the rounds of the chat shows.
Anne Hathaway went for another Grecian Goddess look, this one by Gucci. I sort of like it better than Monday’s dress except for the wreath full of ornaments around her neck. Marion Cotillard was, again, stunning in Dior. (She’s French. ‘Fabulous’ is genetic.)
Guy Ritchie and his baby mama, Jacqui Ainsley, "Game of Thrones’" and "Downton Abbey’s" Rose Leslie, Jeremy Irvine, Peaches Geldof (who will attend the opening of an envelope), Pixie Lott and other assorted Brit starlets all came out in the rain.
Of course the most important of the Very Important People present was His Royal Gingey-ness, Prince Harry. Even royalty geeks out over Batman.
The BFI London Imax venue announced Wednesday that The Dark Knight Rises has already sold 62,300 tickets, grossing more than £1 million ($1.57 million) since going on sale five weeks ago. The original 43 screenings are now sold out and extra shows are being added.
Advance sales for TDKR far surpassed the venue's previous record holder, Avatar, which sold 47,000 tickets ahead of its December 2009 release.
The Dark Knight Rises opens TOMORROW! Friday July 20.
