Daniel Bluemen’s Bar Mitzvah Rap Becomes Internet Sensation (Video)

Daniel Blumen, 12, didn’t want to send out boring, paper invites to his upcoming Bar Mitzvah. Instead his family helped him put together a rap video. The Save-the-Date video is a parody of the popular 2002 Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris music video “Welcome to Atlanta.” A viral sensation before he’s even a man, the video has over 130,000 hits on Youtube.

Finding creative ways to work the event into the beat, he raps “Oink, oink, pig, pig. Do away with the pork. We don’t eat that stuff. Don’t be a such dork.” Daniel reminds guests, “We’re straight kosher munchin’.”

With celebrity cameos, the video features Daniel palling around with Ne-Yo, Shaqille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Mayor Kasim Reed, DJ Frank Ski, Clark Howard and Ne-Yo. He wears his Braves Jersey while visiting local hot spots like Turner Field, World of Coco-Cola, and Fernbank Museum of Natural History.

After studying the clean version of “Welcome to Atlanta,” Daniel rewrote lyrics with the help of his Bar Mitzvah DJ, DJ Keith. “We wanted to something kind of fun to get people excited,” Daniel’s mother Liz Price told ABC News. According to his father Rick Blumen, it was cheaper to make the video and it took about 9 weeks to produce. When asked how they managed to pull together celebrities to participate, Rick Blumen said, “It’s mostly friends of friends that have connected the different points.”

Daniel hopes his friends will “challah” on his special day, May 11.
