Dame Helen Mirren Gets her Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Dame Helen Mirren, who looked stunning in sky blue Escada, received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. Funny, I would have thought she already had one, considering they give those things out like candy.

That’s not to say she doesn’t deserve it because she certainly does. I’ve been a fan of the actress since the 80’s when she appeared as Victoria in The Long Good Friday and as Morgana in Excalibur. (If you haven’t seen either of those, look them up on imdb then get thee to Netflix!) Of course from the moment I saw her as Jane Tennison in the “Prime Suspect” series, she could do no wrong. To this day, if she’s in it, I’ll give it a shot. There are “girl crushes” and then there is adoration…

At any rate, today was Dame Helen’s big day – not as big as the day she received her DBE and became a Dame, I’ll wager – but big enough. Joining her at the unveiling ceremony were her husband, director Taylor Hackford and her stepsons, Rio Hackford, also an actor and Alexander Hackford. Playwright and director David Mamet, who worked with her on his untitled biopic of Phil Spector for HBO, honored the actress.
