Cindy McCain was enraged after Gwyneth Paltrow made a comment at a tech conference comparing online abuse experienced by celebrities to the plight of soldiers at war.
Paltrow was at the Re/Code's Code Conference speaking to Silicon Valley big wigs when she made the controversial comment. She noted that both experiences are dehumanizing.
"Gwenyth Paltrow is a joke," McCain said on Twitter. "My 2 sons serving in the military should talk to her."
McCain added that Paltrow should go on patrol with some of the U.S. soliders, and quipped that it would be like a red carpet for her.
The comment is not the first controversial statement Paltrow has been criticized for recently. Last week, she argued that working American mothers had it easier than mothers in entertainment.
"I think it's different when you have an office job, because it's routine and, you know, you can do all the stuff in the morning and then when you come home in the evening," Paltrow said. "I think to have a regular job and be a mom is...not like being on set."
In an open letter to Paltrow published in the New York Post, one mother sarcastically wrote how thankful she was that she did not make millions in a year filming one movie.
