Tuna the dog has become somewhat of an Instagram sensation after his owner started posting pictures of the funny-looking canine onto the social media app.
Tuna is a Chihuahua-Dachsund mix and was adopted by Courtney Dasher in 2011. She posts photos of the dog on TunaMeltsMyHeart nearly every day.
He even has his own website and 375,000 followers. At the site, fans can purchase merchandise, including iPhone covers, T-shirts and mugs.
He has amused many with his unique features, including an extreme overbite and narrow, pointy nose. The shirts, which come in men's, women's and children's sizes, feature Tuna's funny face as he wears a bow-tie on his neck.
A portion of the proceeds from the shirt sales goes to the ASPCA and the rescuer who originally found Tuna.
Tuna has a lower jawline dysfunction. He was found on the side of the road in San Francisco, Calif.
When Courtney first set her sights on the then four-month-old pup, she fell in love.
"He was not only different physically, but his personality was so lovely and endearing," she said.
At first, she named him Mr. Burns, after the character on the Simpsons. But then the name turned into Tooney, and that turned into Tuna.
"He has funny teeth that stick out, moles around his mouth, a crumpled chin and a neck that looks like it's been soaking in a bathtub for days!" Courtney said.
"I had fallen in love with him and I wanted him to know how much he would be loved by me."
She then was inspired to post pictures of him onto Instagram, not knowing he would soon become famous.
She dressed him up in costumes, took pictures of him peering through bags and compared him to famous people.
"There are countless individuals who are wounded by hurtful words and harsh opinions because they are judged by their looks, and not by their hearts," Courtney said. "I would never have imagined that a little unwanted dog could have this much of an impression on people, by bringing them so much joy and laughter. But then again, he is not your average dog."
