Patti Stanger, the star of Bravo reality show "Millionaire Matchmaker," has called off her own wedding. The professional matchmaker had been dating Andy Friedman, a real estate executive for six years.
Ironically, Stanger, 49, and Friedman, 51, met through a matchmaker. He proposed to her in Maui, Hawaii, on her birthday last year, giving her a 4-carat diamond ring by perching it on the back of a black swan. At the time, she told UsMagazine.com, "I feel like it should have happened years ago, so I'm kind of shocked." Pretty harsh, no? Your boyfriend asks you to marry him, and all you can say is "He should have done it sooner."
The reason for their split? Stanger posted on her Twitter account, "I just ended my relationship with Andy. It hit me really hard that I want kids in my life. You have to agree on the non-negotiables." (Yes, Patti, hence their being called "non-negotiables.")
This is a seemingly swift change of heart: the day before she announced their breakup, Stanger tweeted, "I've said it before & I'll say it again... My aunt always told me “when he kisses you, your toes curl” then you know he’s right for you... ♡"
The fourth season of "Millionaire Matchmaker" will be set in New York City. Maybe Stanger can matchmaker herself a new boyfriend who wants kids.
