Spaced out: Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has admitted that she took cocaine on the set of The Empire Strikes Back.
The star, now 53, told AAP that even though she didn’t like the drug, she was intent on getting high.
“We did cocaine on the set of Empire, in the ice planet,” she revealed.
“I didn’t even like coke that much, it was just a case of getting on whatever train I needed to take to get high,” she added.
Fisher made the revelation while visiting Sydney for her Wishful Drinking stand-up comedy show, which she’ll be touring with throughout October and November.
The actress explained that the death of her friend John Belushi in 1982 from a drug overdose helped her wake up to her substance abuse problem.
“Slowly I realised I was doing a bit more drugs than other people and losing my choice in the matter,” she said. “If I’d been addicted to booze I’d be dead now, because you just go out and get it.”
That’s one hell of an admission! Thankfully, Fisher’s since cleaned up her act and lived to tell the tale.
