One of the new judges of The X Factor, Britney Spears, has been in the headlines for walking off the set of the show. It turns out there is a real reason for her walking off the set and it’s not just to go the bathroom.
RadarOnline.com is reporting the singer has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and can’t take medication for it.
“Britney was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in her teens and used to take medication for it….the medication helped her deal with it, however, she can’t take it now because it interferes with the other medications she takes for her mental health issues. Britney’s current team of doctors strictly prohibit her from taking Adderall or Ritalin, which are commonly given to people with ADHD.”
The “source” went on to say that Britney often has the attention span of a ten year old.
Simon was said
to be fully aware of Britney’s medical history before the contract was signed and he is fully supportive of Britney doing whatever she needs to do during the filming of the show.
According to the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Association, about 8 million adults suffer from the disorder and symptoms include overall restlessness, poor sustained attention to tasks and impaired impulse control.
Britney is being followed by a medical team who helps her to deal with the disorder through exercise and diet.
Spears has a one year deal to be a judge on the X Factor for $15 million dollars, with an option for a second year if Cowell and Spears agree.
If in fact Spears does have ADHD, she should speak about it and how adults can handle it rather than hide the disorder. What do you think??
